A large law firm is looking for a Junior Accounts Clerk, preferably a candidate who has previously worked in a law firm would be a huge advantage.,
Key performance areas
· Scrutinise tax invoices for compliance to SARS and audit requirements
· Ensure that the invoice amounts cast and extend and that VAT has been applied and calculated correctly and in line with the VAT Act
· Check that all invoices have been authorised at the correct level
· Capture and post creditors to the relevant records
· Ensure that VAT is claimed appropriately on all invoices, ie input VAT is processed on claimable expenses only
· Analyse and reconcile creditor statements
· Follow up overdue accounts to ensure that all creditors’ balances remain within agreed terms
· Upload daily and monthly payments via electronic funds transfer (EFT) on online banking system.
· Liaison with the firm’s secretaries and directors to ensure prompt and efficient payment of all business expenses
· Ensure that payment confirmations and remittance advices are sent to all business payment suppliers and/or secretaries as soon as payment has been made to ensure that the firm payments are acknowledged and allocated accurately and timeously
· Ensure that reversal and write-off requests are received in the correct format (per the firm template), all the relevant information is complete and the request has been duly authorised
· Accurate and timeous processing of approved write-offs, reversals, matter credit applications and disbursement transfers.
· Establish and maintain good communication channels and relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
· Any other financial accounting duties and responsibilities that may be delegated from time to time
Skills and experience required
Qualification
· Matric
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience in creditors environment
Sound knowledge of MS Office (ie MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
Experience
· Experience in the legal environment would be advantageous
· Sound knowledge of accounting systems, CMS would be advantageous

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: R250,000.00 to R300,000.00 /month
Experience:
working in a law firm: 3 years (Preferred)
Accounts Payable: 3 years (Preferred)
