Job Title: Blockman

Underberg Superspar has been established for 24 years and has built a great reputation, both nationally and in the local area. We are looking for a full-time Blockman to work approximately 45 hours a week. Applicants must be prepared to work shifts, and public holidays.

Tasks and duties will include:

Meet with, floor walk and hold production planning meeting with department manager
Ensure your department is ready for a store opening, production area and equipment is clean and neat using “clean as you go” principle
Ensure production capacity of the equipment is maximized
Ensure all the products are neatly faced up and have the correct price ticket
Remove any damaged or expired stock
Ensure your top 3 sellers are in stock and well merchandised (produce the right product, at the right time, at the right quality)
Follow agreed standardized meat blocks on supplier packs
Ensure promotions are honored and point of sale is correctly displayed
Ensure display units are kept clean and presentable throughout the day
Ensure cold chain is maintained and products are not left unattended
Follow the first in first out principle to re-merchandise products
Ensure all stock is sealed and in boxes stored off the floor
Ensure your back up freezers and fridges are clean and neat with no meat stored on the floor
Review the quality of products throughout the day
Temperature checks are conducted and recorded at least twice a day
Ensure there is enough packaging
Total customer satisfaction following the in-store customer service programme
The following will be to your advantage:

Previous experience in a retail/butchery environment
Bilingual (English and Zulu)

have good interpersonal skills with excellent customer relations
