Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides Amazon’s customers with access to in-the-cloud infrastructure services based on Amazon’s own back-end technology platform, which can be used to enable virtually any type of business. The Cape Town based Development Center plays a key role in building the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2).
Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) is the web service that is pioneering cloud computing by providing re-sizable compute capacity in the cloud. We are continuing to build the team in order to expand on our feature set and manage our rapidly increasing scale.
This team is responsible for the development and operation of core infrastructure to manage the many hundred thousand EC2 instances launched every day, with millions of associated customer resources. This is a highly evolving problem space involving multiple exciting technologies. As a software engineer in the Cloud Manager team you will contribute to a wide range of business-critical projects in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment, and will become part of an industry-leading engineering team solving challenging problems at massive scale.

Linux operating system development
Experience with Ruby, Perl, Java or C/C++.

BS/MS in Computer Science

Excellent written communication and verbal agility are strong assets.
