Position Purpose:

To provide protection of life, property and environment by correctly executing maintenance programmes and responding to

emergencies, fires, chemical incidents and disaster related emergencies within the demarcation of the regional boundaries of

fire station.

Position outputs:

Respond to all emergency calls at the control centre
Install, inspect and maintain fire protection equipment
Ensure that all equipment operates effectively during operation at all emergency incidents
Execute emergency/disaster response, prevention and mitigation activities within specified response time

Qualifications & Experience:
Grade 12
Firefighter 1 & 2

Hazmat awareness (NFPA 472) and Hazmat Operations
Emergency Care Level 3 or basic Ambulance Assistant
Fire Appliance Technician (SAQCC Certified) or be prepared and pass first available course within 3 months of
appointment.
Be in possession of a (Code CI/EC1) Driver’s Licence and be competent and prepared to drive such a vehicle
Physically fit

Non-nycotophobic (no phobia for darkness)
Ability to withstand heights
Eye, hand and feet coordination
