The roofer will repair, replace, and install roofs on residential homes or commercial buildings. He/ She will use a variety of materials such a metal, aluminum, wood, shingles, tiles, slate, and steel. The roofer will scale the tops of a property to repair leaky roofs, replace broken tiles, or seal areas to make them watertight.
Roofing is physically demanding and requires the stamina to stand, climb, and carefully walk in hot, cold, windy, snowy, or rainy weather. The work that the roofers will do ensures that buildings are structurally sound and safe for those who enter
Duties and responsibilities
Install, repair or replace shingles, shakes and other roofing tiles on sloped roofs of buildings
Install, repair or replace built-up roofing systems using materials such as asphalt saturated felts and hot asphalt and gravel,
Install, repair or replace Conventional 4 ply (built up roofing) systems using materials such as asphalt saturated felts and hot asphalt and gravel
Install, repair or replace Modified Bitumen (Mod-Bit) roofing
Install, repair or replace single ply roofing systems, using waterproof sheet materials such as modified plastics or asphalt compositions
Use of hand tools and power tools for installation
Repair or replacement of all roofing systems
Providing training to more junior level, less experienced workers
Apply waterproof coatings to concrete or other masonry surfaces below or above ground level,
Install, repair or replace single-ply roofing system using waterproof sheet materials such as modified plastics, elastomeric or other asphaltic compositions
Additional Skills
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a roofer
Ability to learn and follow our extensive company safety policy
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge of Tar & Gravel, Torch-on, Cold Process, Rubber Roofing
Ability to read, write and speak English
Completion of High School Diploma
Willing to work in a fast-paced environment, physically demanding, Repetitive tasks, Hand-eye co-ordination, Bending, crouching, kneeling
Must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language
Physically fit and able to lift up-to 100 lbs
Available to work on weekends, evenings and out-of-town work, if needed
Able to work at height’s
Able to climb up and down ladders at minimal heights of 40 ft
Wage
$ 21 per hour
