About the job and company:

mah sambe is a school transport company operating in Pretoria, Mnandi (near Olievenhoutbosch, Diepsloot) area.

We are looking for a school transport driver, a very responsible, patient and friendly person who is able to pick up and drop off children safely and promptly along various designated route(s). The schedule of school routes includes fetching children from their extra-mural activities after 17:30 and taking them to school as early as 06:00 in the morning.

Responsibilities:

Drives a school transportation vehicle within a prescribed route(s) in accordance with time schedules; picking up and discharging learners at designated stops
Ensure that all children are safely strapped in and sitting securely whilst in transit
Ensure that children/ learners are met by parents/relevant childcare guardian upon drop off
Perform approved day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicles; check oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc. and ensure that the assigned mah sambe vehicles are road worthy and maintained up to the established security standards.
Reports needed mechanical repairs when necessary
Maintain cleanliness of vehicle to ensure safe and healthy operating condition
Completes periodic mileage and other relevant reports including passenger counts
Decline to drive passengers not authorized to be in a mah sambe vehicle.
May be required to attend driver training programs to maintain and improve current knowledge of South African learner transportation requirements
May be required to operate a two-way radio
Performs related duties as required by the company needs

Minimum job requirements: –

Valid Code 10 driver’s license with up to date Passenger Drivers Permit.
Good knowledge of English and local language.
Ability to read and write at a level necessary to successfully perform the required duties
Demonstrable school transport driving experience or relevant.
Knowledge of basic first aid practices, procedures, and techniques
Knowledge of safe driving practices and an understanding and application of all current South African Road Safety Regulations
Exemplary knowledge of Centurion relevant routes and areas e.g. Mnandi, Monavoni etc will be advantageous
Mechanical skills would be advantageous.
Excellent co ordination, time management and judgement skills when it comes to safe, responsible driving and management of learner passengers
Ability to understand and carry out both oral and written instructions in an independent manner
Ability to drive a school vehicle safely and efficiently
Ability to exercise good judgment and extreme caution while driving
Ability to maintain valid certification as school vehicle driver according to South African Transport regulations
Ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform required duties
Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationship with those contacted in the performance of required duties
