A Coal Mining Giant is looking to recruit a Project Manager – LEAN for the Matla Project. The position is based in Mpumalanga
Purpose
To direct and manage the review of the project lifecycle to define lean project management ways of work for project delivery.
To direct and manage the development of lean methodologies as a project.
To develop project plans and estimate the resources needed to achieve project goals. To put a structure together for lean site construction.
Major Challenges
Manage project delivery to ensure customer satisfaction
Proactively manage changes in project scope, project risks and devise contingency plans
To pilot agile practices on projects in different phases of the lifecycle as part of the optimization process to embed agile ways of work and fast track project delivery.
Minimum Requirements:
Management Development Programme (Essential/Minimum)
B Degree (Hons) Mechanical/Mining/Civil) (Essential/Minimum)
Lean Project Management certification
Relevant Experience:
8-10 years in the mining/production environment
Project Management Methodology
Review lean project management methodologies and practices for applicability in project delivery through the lifecycle.
Review current project management processes, systems, guidelines and templates to define lean improvement opportunities
Embed processes and drive organizational culture to enable lean principle adoption in project management ways of work.
Best Practice and Knowledge Management
Update the Company project management methodology to include flexibility and speed in project delivery by adopting lean methodologies
Participate in the evaluation of discipline-specific standards, principles, and practice to enable planning, design, and implementation of project outcomes that support business strategy
Contribute to the development and implementation of an appropriate approach to knowledge management for discipline in line with business needs
Provide and participate in governance processes and procedures to enable a lean way of work in project lifecycle.
Business Performance and Operations
Create and execute project work plans and revise to meet changing project needs and requirements
Identify resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities
Take action to mitigate and manage risks that can impact on project
Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path
Supervise and ensure execution of projects in adherence to agreed SLA’s and service delivery standards
Ensure document control via centralized capturing system specified by the Company
Compliance, Governance, and Assurance
Implement controls to ensure legal compliance
Apply controls to ensure legal and best practice compliance in accordance with MHSA (Mine Health and Safety Act), MPRDA (Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act), OHSA (Occupational Health and Safety Act) where applicable
Effective People Management
Provide inputs for planning and recommendations for staff to be efficiently deployed and identify areas of further development (projects and training)
Manage project team
Coaching of staff members
Promote teamwork, provide support and manage performance by creating and maintaining individual development plans of subordinates
Financial Management
Manage and ensure optimal use of budget allocated to project
Internal Business Processes
Advise on selection of project team members
Provide Project Steering Committees with progress reporting in delivering strategic objectives
Contribute to gathering customer feedback as required and ensure that customers are satisfied with the delivery of knowledge management services
Participate in the implementation of quality management systems to ensure the delivery of high-quality projects
Safe and Healthy Work Environment
Maintain and ensure a healthy environment, safe operations, and practices, ensuring compliance with all applicable SHE policies and procedures in line with set standards
