De Beers Marine (DBM) is based in Cape Town, South Africa and is part of the De Beers Group. Operations include marine geophysical surveys, sampling, and mining. Shore-based activities include projects, engineering, R&D and maintenance. Projects include the establishment and development of a fleet of mining ships and all associated equipment. DBM is the industry leader in marine mining practices resulting in the most successful and advanced marine mining equipment and operations globally.
DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB:
De Beers Marine requires the services of a Chief Safety Officer to manage, coordinate, implement and monitor adherence to the DeBeers Group and DeBeers Marine safety management systems, legislation, standards, and objectives.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
(any one of the following)
National Diploma in Health and Safety, or
NEBOSH General and Construction Certificate or
any NQF equivalent
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Health and Safety Management System and ISO (OHSAS) certification implementation and maintenance
Successful completion of the SRMP training program and knowledge of Anglo-American Group Safety standards would be an advantage
Experience working with the relevant legislation. Maritime experience would be an advantage
Strong reporting experience and knowledge, including working with statistics.
Experience with Safety Management Systems and auditing
Computer literate with a strong emphasis on Excel capability
