Job Description

Venetia Mine is a Tier 1 asset in the Anglo American and De Beers Group of Companies portfolio. The Venetia Underground Project (VUP) is a key replacement project to the Venetia Open Pit (VOP). VUP is a complexed modern underground mechanised development, shaft and mine construction project to deliver an operational Sub Level Cave mine operation.

The remit of the role is to support VUP in safe and efficient application of best practice underground mechanised mine development, services and production methods to establish Venetia underground mine as a high performance, high productivity large scale mechanised mine. The role will apply a rich base of global mechanised mining experience, mentoring and transferring best practice skills in co-ordination and execution of mechanised mining practices, to support the organisational burning ambition in achieving best in class performance in our mines, in our journey toward P101 operations.

Qualifications

Formal qualifications:

Extensive experience at multiple large scale modern mechanised mines – operating, supervisory and operational leadership experience specific to effective management of safe and efficient best practice mechanised mining operations.
Demonstrated experience as an expert operational practitioner in the underground mechanised mining field, intimate operational and working knowledge of all steps, inputs and methods for safe, efficient mechanised mining cycle activity.
Mature and proven leadership style to deal with complexed work environments to support delivery of major change programs to delivery best practice mining systems of work.

Role-specific knowledge:

Proven track record of successful execution and delivery of underground development systems to deliver best practice mechanised mine operations in terms of safe systems of work, productivity and mine standards.
Previous experience overseeing major mining projects or operations, applying leading practice systems of work.
Previous experience in leading, coaching and mentoring of work teams to build and transfer capability and experience.
Demonstrated ability to work with technical and operational mine teams to effectively convert medium-range plans into operating tactics and actions, ensuring a high compliance to plan mine operational culture.
Demonstrated success in the implementation of process improvements across multiple work streams in a high performance underground mechanised mining operation.
Safety:

Provides a consistent outstanding role model in relation to safety practices with a deep understanding of the importance of safety.
Can apply recent experiences in best practice systems of work and operating standards to support and lead a proven approach to safe mining systems of work.
