Takealot’s third-party marketplace business is outpacing the growth of the Retail business and now represents over 30% of all units sold. We are looking for an Operations Manager: Marketplace to help shape the future of the Takealot Marketplace:

This position reports to the Head of Merchant Operations

Your responsibilities will include:

This role leads a large and diversified team therefore, its highly cross-functional and highly visible by the senior leadership of Takealot.com. You must not only be able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but you must also be willing to roll up your sleeves and dig into daily and operational challenges that impede third-party merchants’ success.

The role is focused on delivering the best possible seller experience through flawless and efficient service delivery, continuously improving on and simplifying processes that set the third party merchants up for sustainable scalable growth on our platform.

Partner with key stakeholders from product and content management, legal, commercial and wider organizational supply chain teams to help identify opportunities for Marketplace operational business process improvements and opportunities to develop and deliver an autonomous self-service platform for sellers.

End-to-end ownership of Seller Support operations including but not limited to; weekly reporting on all Seller Support metrics, annual budget planning including capacity planning, seller contact efficiency gains, improved seller satisfaction levels, effectiveness and efficiency of seller onboarding and team development.

To manage the performance of the Seller Support Team Leaders, developing and improving performance by coaching and counselling to ensure holistic metrics, KPI’s and quality targets are achieved throughout the Seller Support division.

Ensure operational alignment across the Seller Support teams, the greater Marketplace team as well as the wider Takealot.com operational teams by creating, documenting and implementing best practices, SOP’s, SLA’s, policies and guidelines.

To handle and solve a diverse and complex range of seller escalations if and when they arise, deep dive the root cause of the escalations and solve the underlying root cause through systematic changes, process improvements and/or seller education.

Oversee and manage the day to day output of the Marketplace Compliance manager who is responsible for the strategic direction of Marketplace risk management which includes seller operational performance and product compliance. This entails the implementation of adequate holistic policies, procedures, processes, requirements regulations and conditions to comply with all legal and regulatory specifications and to ensure these risks are sufficiently addressed and managed.

Qualifications:

Industrial Engineering or similar degree in Operations Management
Minimum 6 years of experience, 2+ years of managing a team
High proficiency in advanced Excel
SQL is a plus
Experience in an e-commerce environment is a plus
