The Procurement Clerk ensures efficient and cost effective purchasing and delivery of materials / products, by effectively obtaining quotes, placing orders and ensuring that delivery is expedited accordingly and on time.
The Procurement Clerk / Assistant will report to Head of Procurement and shall be responsible for the following:
Sourcing of materials / services and new supplier development.
Regularly reviewing / assessing Customer / User demands / requirements, compiling all requirements for the consolidation of demands, RFQ’s for materials and services.
Obtaining competitive quotes from Suppliers.
Analysing supplier quotations and proposals, in order to determine lowest overall cost solution for materials / services being procured.
Negotiating with suppliers to reduce overall cost, minimize administrative burdens, and assure that all necessary contractual items are adequately covered.
Placement of orders (Material Supply), using preferred suppliers.
Creating purchase orders.
Following up on / expediting the delivery of the material / services ensuring delivery at the right time.
Taking necessary action to resolve problems when supplier / contractor performance is not met.
Compiling and managing Supplier database and Supplier Performance.
Monitoring Supplier / Vendor compliance to contract terms and conditions.
Providing timely feedback and status reports on procurement issues.
Ensuring the system remains current with the latest pricing at all times.
Qualifications and Skill:
Bachelor of Commerce preferably in Procurement & Supply Chain Management / Logistics.
Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 Years Procurement experience in any Mining or Process industry.
Adequate working knowledge of SAP or similar equivalent ERP.
Salary is market related
