PURPOSE OF ROLE:
Assume responsibility for the financial accounting functions of the organization and its centrally managed entities.
MAIN ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities will be varied and include the following critical performance areas:
Financial Accounting:
Maintain financial records (general ledger and subsidiary ledgers where relevant) for all centrally accounted group companies including:
Process all source transactions
Reconciliation of all bank and balance sheet accounts
Prepare and process approved journal entries
Prepare payments from supplier accounts after reconciliation
Load payments into the EFT system and manage release of payments
Maintain banking profiles
Collect all monies owing
Confirm all third-party balances
Analyse monthly income statement accounts, report against budgets and prepare forecasts when required
Analyse income statement accounts for tax disclosure purposes
Prepare monthly VAT returns for relevant companies
Load/ extract month end trial balances for consolidation purposes
Check that intercompany accounts balance prior to consolidation
Ad hoc projects and analysis
Professional Development:
Maintain updated knowledge of relevant legislation, amendments and related information pertaining to the financial field
Responsible for self-development and continual upgrading of job-related knowledge and skills
Assume responsibility for own personal and professional development
Keep up to date with the entity’s evolving policies and procedures
Build and Maintain Stakeholder Relationships:
Liaise with a network of internal stakeholders to ensure complete, accurate and relevant recording and reporting of actual, budget and forecast results
Develop, maintain and encourage open communication channels between relevant stakeholders
Key internal relationships: Group executives, finance departments of all operating group companies, tax and treasury teams, holding company finance team
Key external relationships: External auditors, suppliers, banks

REQUIREMENTS:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
B Com qualification or equivalent NQF level 7 qualification
A minimum of six years’ financial accounting experience
Proven record of accurate working with strong attention to detail
Previous experience in dealing with VAT matters
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Knowledge:
Knowledge of Sage X3
Knowledge of financial planning at all levels
Intermediate to advanced computer knowledge

Will interact with internal and external customers through several different means
Travel within and across regions to support the functions of the role may be required
