Main purpose of the job
The main purpose of this position is to support the functioning of the person and office of the Director of UUME. This post reports to the Office Manager of UUME. Additional duties are specified in the “Key performance areas” section below.
Location
Wits Medical School, Parktown, Johannesburg
Key performance areas
Support all admin and roles related to the Director’s office. E.g. coordinate and arrange meetings, minute taking, diary management, answering calls and taking messages, travel arrangements for Director, preparation of reports, manage student requests for meetings
General admin support: maintain departmental website, monitor and coordinate UUME academic planner, travel arrangements for UUME visiting academic staff, make online bookings for UUME Ubuntu Boardroom
Close liaison with UUME Office manager to facilitate effective general administration and HR & Finance processes for the UUME.
Minimum requirements to apply for this position:
Matric
Recognized post-matric secretarial qualification
2 years of secretarial experience
Abilities, qualifications or experience that would be an advantage in your application
Initiative, planning and organizing skills
Attention to detail
Computer skills, especially Excel and Word
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desirable personal abilities of the successful applicant
Positive work attitude
Good administrative skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Self-motivated, able to work independently and work as part of the UUME team
Able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
Good interpersonal skills, tactful, respectful, non-judgmental and punctual
