Carpentry Assistant wanted urgently: APPLY HERE

The Group has a Carpentry Assistant position available. The Carpentry Assistant’s primary purpose is to provide support and service to the SA Steelworks Group. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Housekeeping of the Carpentry workshop
Assist Carpenter to repair wooden fixtures in buildings when needed
Assist Carpenter with plumbing maintenance jobs
Assist Carpenter to maintain safety work gear for staff ( fit visors)
Collecting items from stores when required
Perform basic handyman jobs on a day to day basis
Assist Carpenter to measure, cut or shape wood, plastic and other types of material
General adhoc duties as communicated by Management.

Applicants must have the following qualifying criteria:

Grade 12
2-3 years’ of experience in a similar position
Must be able to do basic mathematical calculations to ensure correct measurements
Knowledge of power tools
Knowledge of Health and Safety Rules
Ability to work under challenging conditions
Must be able to work at heights
Must Excellent communication skills( understand, read and write in English)
Must have good workplace value principles

Qualifying Attributes:

Physically fit (Strength to handle materials, tools, and machines)
Must be able to work alone and in a team
Must be willing and eager to learn
Must be honest and reliable
Hard-working and self-motivated individual
Willing to work overtime when required
Health and Safety awareness
Detail Orientated
