A leading consulting firm has seeksa seasoned Design Engineer who specialises in Water and wastewater projects.
POSITION: DESIGN ENGINEER-WATER AND WASTEWATER
AREA: JOHANNESBURG, GAUTENG
SALARY: MARKET-RELATED
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
To successfully manage the construction phase for water/wastewater projects. To ensure that all aspects of the investigation and design for water/wastewater projects are conducted to agreed standards and specifications.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
B.Sc/ B. Eng. / B. Tech Degree completed
Min 10 years of design as well as extensive project management experience
ECSA registration Preferred
Design of large diameter steel pipelines/reticulation systems and Water and Waste Water Treatment Works
Additional experience in surge/water hammer analysis would be a distinct advantage
High level of knowledge of the following design software is required:
Epanet
Hammer
Civil Designer Suite
Surge 2010MS Office
MS Project
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Manage and/or conduct the design phase for various water/waste water projects
Manage construction phase for various water/waste water projects
Manage and/or conduct the design phase for various water/waste water projects
Transfer of knowledge and skills to junior staff
Detail communication with all role-players to establish project scope
Execute design process in line with project plan
Conduct preliminary /detail investigation to obtain all information for water/waste water design
Manage/execute Preliminary and Detail design in line with all relevant design codes and specifications
Manage/execute design optimisation
Manage/do all design drawings and details
Implement quality checks and sign off design
Compile contract documentation if required
Keep abreast with latest developments in water/waste water design trends
Manage construction phase for various structural projects
Detail communication with all role-players in line with project scope and contractual requirements
Manage construction phase in line with General Conditions of Contract and Project Specifications
Manage site staff and laboratory and implement quality plan on site
Ensure full contractual compliance in terms of time quality and cost
Manage contractual communication between all parties including claims and disputes
Manage completion, sign-off and defects correction.
