Position Purpose:
Provide strategic direction and leadership to the port terminals servicing one of the following:
Cape Terminals servicing Containers and Automotive Supply Chain in the Cape;
Saldanha Terminals servicing the Iron ore and Manganese supply chain in the Cape;
Durban Terminals servicing the Containers and Automotive Supply Chain in KZN;
Richards Bay Terminals servicing Magnetite, Chrome & Coal in Richards Bay, KZN;
Take ownership to run the terminals in the portfolio as a profitable, efficient and value-adding business;
Lead the Commercial, Customer Service and Stakeholder engagement initiatives in the areas where the terminals operate;
Plan for operational capacity to ensure that effectiveness, efficiency, cost competitiveness and reliability are monitored and that growth potential can be realised;
Role Accountabilities:
Compile a comprehensive localized strategy and implementation roadmap for the terminals servicing the supply chain for optimal operations and efficiency;
Ensure sound operations management by implementing appropriate industrial engineering systems, processes, reporting and internal controls in alignment with Group policies and guidelines;
Direct operational capacity to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, cost competitiveness and reliability
Ensure operational capacity for growth potential;
Produce and monitor the revenue and cost budget and take ownership for the terminals to operate profitably;
Responsible for accurate operational and safety reporting in compliance with legislative reporting requirements and deadlines;
Ensure compliance to corporate governance and control systems implemented, to ensure sound, auditable operations practice;
Develop and implement risk mitigation actions and initiatives and monitor operations to ensure risks are eradicated or minimised;
Monitor compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements;
Ensure effective stakeholder relations management with customers and other key stakeholders;
Liaise with all stakeholders and provide strategic advice on operations performance interventions required to transform the customer experience and achieve positive business performance;
Improve core business operations performance and increase market share within customer base;
Lead, manage and develop a team of professionals, and coach and mentor staff as required;

Position Inputs:
Qualifications, Experience, and Inherent Requirements:
B-degree in Operations, Engineering or equivalent relevant qualification;
Post graduate degree in Business Management or equivalent is an advantage;
Minimum 15 years experience in a large organization with complex operations and commercial environment, of which 10 years is within a port environment and 7 years at a senior managerial level;
Requirement of trust and honesty in the handling of Finances as per the National Credit Act Amendment 19;
Standard Job Requirements:
Drivers licence code 8;
Travel as required by the business.
