Care Taker / Gardener wanted immediately: Salary R4 000 to R5 000 per month

Responsibilities:

Property maintenance:

· Ensures that the premises is safe prior to the centre opening every morning

· Inspects all points of entry to check for any irregularities

· Inform Centre Management of any safety risks/hazards observed

· Eliminates observed risks to makes the premises safe

· Write and formally reports the status of the safety of the premises to Centre Management

· Ensures that safety rules as prescribed by related legislations are observed and adhered to at all times

· Restrict access to only allowed persons in and out of the premises

Gardening:

· Ensures that the Centre premises especially the garden areas of the centre are cleaned and presentable

· Waters grass and flowers as required

· Prune and trim trees as and when required (where applicable)

· Remove weeds between grass and flowers as well as anywhere in the garden

· Deal with pest problems that could kill plants

· Monitor and maintain the health of plants

· Keep gardens clear of debris and litter

· Maintain all gardening equipment, tools and machineries. mowers, trimmers and leaf blowers etc.

Handyman:

· Completes general building cleaning and maintenance

· Does basic maintenance on Centre equipment and or furniture

· Install light bulbs, fix plugs, etc. non-specialised maintenance tasks

· Does basic plumbing, unblocking of pipes, drains, sinks etc.

· Install and replace floors, stairs and piping as needed.

· Repair and paint doors, windows, walls, ceilings, roofs and other parts of the building.

· Maintain trash and recycling receptacles around the facility

Other duties:

· Assist with caring for the children when there are staff shortages

· Assists in the kitchen where needed

· Loading and offloading of good, groceries, etc.

Skills:

· Basic handyman skills

· Basic landscaping skills

· Knowledge of basic handyman and gardening tool, equipment and machinery
