POSITION:
*Driver Forklift*
JOB GRADING: B-Lower
DEPARTMENT: Commercial Services (Warehouse)
SITE: South Deep Gold Mine
Minimum Requirements:
Be in possession of a Grade 12/N3 qualification or equivalent.
Be in possession of a valid Forklift Drivers licence
Be in possession of a Code 08 (EB) Driver licence
Have at least 2 years’ experience in a mining or plant environment
Successfully complete a Dover assessment, at a level appropriate to the position
Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment.
Must have proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or be fully vaccinated by the date of the commencement of employment
Key Competencies:
Ability to drive and operate the forklift
Planning and prioritise of deliveries to ensure workflow.
Knowledge of machinery for pre-work checks, motion and weight
Safe Stacking and packing of material
Have good verbal and written communication skills
Team player
Ability to work under pressure
Self-motivated
Uphold good housekeeping standards
Ensure material in transit security.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate a forklift to transport equipment and material safely and efficiently according to standards and procedures
Do a pre-use inspection on equipment by means of a checklist and report deficiencies to supervisor.
Perform basic maintenance on equipment e.g. top up engine oil-, water- and hydraulic oil, check for oil leaks and clean equipment according to standards and procedures.
Maintain Safety, Health and Environmental practices according to standards and procedures.
Perform end of shift procedures according to standards and procedures
Perform any other activities necessary for the effective completion of work.
