Part of the sponsored visa program for the United Kingdom

(Please do not apply if you do not have at least ONE YEAR of butchery (and knife skills experience)

All the costs: TB test, IELTS test, Visa fee and flight to the UK will be paid by the employer. The applicant only has to do(pay) for the IELTS test beforehand but is also will be reimbursed.

R512 000 – R560 000 per annum depending on experience

The role will involve working with raw beef, lamb or pork in a chilled environment. You will be responsible for all aspects of primary processing in either slaughter or de-boning areas.

Site Location: Site location availability in England, Wales and Northern Ireland

Job Role Pay Rates: £25,600 per annum

Job Role Hours: 39.0 hours per week

Working Days: Monday to Friday, some occasional weekend work

JOB ROLE DUTIES TO INCLUDE:

Basic function:

Working as part of a team in the factory, your duties may include a mixture of slaughtering, boning, cutting, general butchery work, trimming, and machine operations

Whilst undertaking this role you must ensure you comply with food safety, legality, quality, and health and safety at all times.

Key duties:

De-bone and trim carcasses and trim primals to the required customer specifications
Remove primal cuts from carcass cuts following the correct cutting lines and seams
Ensure any bones removed are as “clean” as possible
Cut, trim and prepare meat cuts to specific meat and industry specification at the appropriate production speeds
Slaughter livestock performing precision tasks including stunning, legging, bunging, rodding, splitting saw, sticking, flanking, removal of skin, evisceration, weighing of carcass, quality control of carcass, cleaning carcass, hide removal and processing, removal of internal organs,
Set-up of machines, maintain the flow of product through the machine to meet production speeds, set seal times and gas settings to match tray sizes and product being produced, ensure metal detection of product, Weighing, packing and labeling of food items
Proper use and storage of issued PPE, including knives

MANDATORY SKILL REQUIREMENTS

1. English Language Qualification:

1.1 Level B1/IELTS Certificate for UKVI 4.0 overall and in each of the four skills

Listening
Reading
Writing
Speaking

1.2 Slaughter and / or Butchery Skills –

An accredited training certificate or
A minimum of 12 months meat processing experience in a Butchery or Slaughter environment

KEY COMPETENCIES

Team Skills
Where knife work is being undertaken, you will be expected to possess the relevant skill and aptitude for the role. (knife safety induction training must be carried out before commencement of knife work).
Where machinery work is being undertaken, you will be expected to be proficient in the use of all relevant machinery and tools that are required to fulfill the role. This includes the use of saws, cutting equipment, vacuum packing equipment etc.
