The General Assistant picks, wraps, offloads, loads, and repairs merchandise within the RVL area. General Assistants maintain a clean and organized warehouse for optimal utilization of space and create easy stock access for stock counts, picking, safe packing, and storage.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Outputs to deliver this accountability:
Picks the stock as per the picking slip or transfer documents.
Moves inventory and materials across facilities by using a trolley, ladder, ramp and/or goods lift, ensuring safety rules and regulations are followed whilst doing so.
Prepare stock for dispatch or delivery by wrapping the stock carefully with packaging material and ensuring stock is properly labelled.
Load and offload stock from or onto trucks, containers or vehicles as per instruction.
Stack and organize large bulk items according to stacking regulations and or by using a ladder, to ensure all boxes stacked are not damaged and that the weight is not excessive for bottom boxes.
Carefully handle and move stock items ensuring no damage.
Repair damaged stock
Assist with customer technical visits.
Report all damage, missing items, misuse of items to the manager.
Ensure work areas and aisles are clean and neatly stacked.
Assist clients or couriers collecting orders in a professional and helpful manner.
Assist with stock counts and perpetual counts when needed.
Ensure the stock is carefully handled and loaded.
Ensure trolleys, ladders and other safety gear are always used.
Ensure that the Occupational Health and Safety requirements are implemented and adhere to.
Work as an active team member to complete team goals.
Ensure all tools and equipment are cleaned and checked as part of housekeeping.
Perform all other duties as reasonably assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Matric Certificate.
Wood work, furniture building, upholstering and other related skills preferred.
Valid vehicle license advantageous
Experience in a warehouse and or logistics environment advantageous.
Knowledge of warehouse systems and procedure advantageous.
Must have numeracy and literacy skills.
COMPETENCIES:
Must be efficient, accurate, focused and attention to detail.
Fluently speaking and writing in English.
Self-motivated and willing to go the extra mile.
Must be a team player.
Excellent timekeeping.
