Salary: to R 127,812 + allowances

Description: This the opportunity of a lifetime for an experienced Anaesthetist to work in a beautiful setting, located in a sub-tropical Island of the South Atlantic Ocean.

You will be responsible for anaesthetic procedures; preoperative preparation of surgical patients and administering anaesthetics to adult and paediatric patients, which would include general anaesthesia (LMA or intubation), neuraxial blocks and axillary plexus blocks. Neonatal cases may also arise

The post is within a 28-bed hospital, situated within an island of spectacular and beautiful landscapes. The community consists of roughly 4500 warm and friendly people, and with recent expansion of their International airport the island is set to develop even more.

As an Anaesthetist you will be on-call 24/7 for anaesthetics and intensive care patients but will also be a member of the general on-call rota to provide emergency out-of-hours care with back-up support from other medical professionals on island as required.

This is a 3 – 6-month locum role.

Person Specification:

· Full HCPSA registration or equivalence and good standing with that body;

· Employed at Consultant level or at Senior Specialist Registrar with at least 7 years’ post graduate experience;

· Intensive care experience of at least 5 years;

· FRCA or DESA or equivalent;

· ATLS, APLS or equivalent;

· Good command of the English language.
