We are a food manufacturer who specializes in the manufacturing of quality frozen catering snacks, meals, and desserts for both the foodservice and retail chains.
We are looking for a development chef who is bright and energetic who will create products which taste good and will remain that way even when they are mass-produced. We want someone that will take our vision to offer an excellent product to our clients and develop the product likewise no matter how many times the revision may need to be done.
Has min 2 years’ experience as a chef
Understands recipe costings
Can train and facilitate training given to staff when rolling out a new product
Must be able to take a requirement from a customer and execute accordingly (Understanding the customer needs and following through to make sure that the product is satisfactory according to the customer spec)
Must be able to act as a head chef in the innovations department where they will oversee a small team of cooks, they will need to ensure cleanliness and organization of the department.
Major functions of the position
Design of recipes, sequence of manufacture, process controls pass/fail and quality control parameters and food tech knowledge applied
Product development of new products and improvement of existing products trials
Hands on, involved from trialing recipes to choosing product packaging
Reporting of progress on projects
Ensuring that all documentation is complete during the development process and that the process is adhered to
Experience in production and manufacturing
HACCP AND GMPS
Experience/knowledge in Food science
Knowledge of market trends for product development
