Department of Health (DoH) palliative care wards which will be managed by Aquarius Health Care will oversee 2 COVID wards, is situated on the Lentegeur Psychiatric Hospital premises in Lentegeur, Mitchell’s Plain.
The following temporary positions are available for a period of 6 months ONLY.
· Cleaners: 8 posts
· Hostess: 4 posts
· Date of commencement: mid-July 2020
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties may vary by assignment or contract.)
Carry out scheduled cleaning tasks this includes sweeping, mopping, wiping down, scrubbing toilets, removal rubbish bags etc
Maintain cleanliness of all surfaces, workstations, desktops, bathrooms, ward areas, medical beds, ward equipment, by washing down and properly sanitizing areas regularly
Follow procedures for the use of chemical products and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
Clean kitchens – refrigerators, microwaves, sinks, remove garbage and medical waste in accordance with required protocols and procedures
Follow all health and safety regulations and policies and procedures regarding food handling, personal hygiene, safety, and proper sanitation
Ensure regular sanitization of all working areas, ablution areas and open spaces
Adhere to strict safety protocols pertaining to COVID-19
Notify Unit Manager of occurring deficiencies or equipment in need of repairs
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
Minimum requirements Basic numeracy and literacy
Proven work experience as a cleaner/general worker/hostess in the hospital setting will be advantageous
Good communication and interpersonal skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape
The ability to function independently and/or part of a team.
Ability to work under pressure
Effective management of equipment and stock control
Must be available to work 12 hours shifts, weekends and public holidays.
