Job Description
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Handy Man, to be based at the Manufacturing Plant in Springs. The successful candidate will report to the Services Superintendent in the Engineering Department.
Purpose of the Job:
The incumbent will be responsible for a particular section of the production line. He/she will be responsible to monitor equipment, recognise problems and apply problem solving principles, ensure that the output specifications and is achieved within the agreed budget, quality and safety standards. He/she will be will also be responsible to keep the designated section of the production line clean and neat at all times.
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications:
Grade 12 or equivalent
N2 qualification in mechanical and/or plumbing qualification
Experience with plumbing/ boiler making and welding is required
Excellent facility with common hand and power tools experience
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
A minimum of 1 year experience in the FMCG
Suitable candidates will possess the following skills, abilities and knowledge:
Assertive and results orientated
Technically minded
Excellent interpersonal skills
Attention to detail
Ability to handle pressure whilst maintaining a high work rate
Physical strength is an inherent requirement for this role
Medically fit and willing to work in cold environment
Ability to work productively in a stressful environment
Willing to work shifts as and when required including over weekends
