DUTIES
The John’s Peattie performs housekeeping services and provides assistance in the activities of daily living when an individual or family cannot meet these responsibilities. The John’s Peattie works under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse, social worker or other professional person to provide a supplementary service in carrying out a service plan. The Homemaker must have had at least one-year experience, either work or life experience as a companion.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Gives personal attention to the sick, disabled and aged to help provide and maintain physical and emotional comfort, and to assist the individual toward independent living.
Assists in lessening the burden of prolonged illness physically, emotionally and/or economically.
Works toward hastening convalescence and reducing the length of stay in an institution by permitting the individual to remain at home or to return home sooner than would otherwise be possible.
Enables the ill, disabled or frail aged person to remain in his/her own home among familiar surroundings.
Has empathy for the needs of the ill, elderly, injured, frail and impaired.

JOB CONDITIONS
Home visits are part of the job function. Must be able to access patients’ homes which will not be routinely wheelchair accessible.
May be required to bend, stoop, reach in order to sweep, vacuum, mop, etc.
The position requires the ability to travel extensively in a geographic area. If traveling by car, must possess a valid driver’s license and adequate car insurance.
Hearing, eyesight and physical dexterity must be sufficient to perform duties, understand and communicate with the patient/family and demonstrate patient care.
There must be the ability to give and receive information orally, and to use the telephone. Must be able to adequately document care provided in English.

COMPANY INFORMATION:
Has access to all patient medical records which may be discussed with the Registered Nurse and the Registered Nurse Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferably a high school diploma or GED.
Must have a current criminal clearance that satisfies the Agency, local, state and federal statute.
Must have completed a minimum of 40 hours of training or competency evaluation program as outlined in Subsections C or E of 7.28.2.31 NMAC.
Must be free from health problems that may be injurious to patient, self and co-workers and must present appropriate evidence to substantiate this.
Must have criminal background check, OIG and National sex registry clearance.
Must understand and respect patient’s including ethics and confidentiality of care.
