Logistics Officer urgently needed: Salary R18 000 per month

Logistics Officer will be responsible to establish and obtain membership to the major international freight forwarding associations
Duties
Develop contractual relationships with overseas partners, global sea and air freight carriers
Deal directly with sea and air freight carriers to obtain the best rates and fastest lead times for inbound and outbound shipments
Develop and implement an efficient process to provide the sales team and operations with immediate shipping rates for customer quotations
Manage and track all in and outbound shipments worldwide to ensure smooth delivery, within projects deadlines
Manage relationships with 3PL warehouse partners worldwide for 3rd party receiving, handling (including repacking), and dispatching
Develop systems to optimize shipping document generation to help streamline operations
Liaise daily with remote-based management. This will require availability by phone and email outside of regular business hours
Maintain a highly organized log of all shipments globally from start to finish
Compile and submit weekly and monthly management reports
Experience and Education
Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in the relevant major
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
Air freight logistics experience
Must have dealt with airlines directly (and/or freight forwarding companies)
Deadline oriented
Knowledge of logistics systems and global logistics
Understanding of transportation limitations and regulations
Team player that can work well without supervision
Planning skills
Knowledge of logistics subset (e.g. People working in ground transportation need to have an understanding of trucking and rail shipments)
Experience working in logistics preferred
