SALES REPRESENTATIVE – EAST RAND – MARKET-RELATED SALARY
A national distributor and manufacturer
of adhesives has a position for an external Sales Representative based at our Johannesburg
branch, covering Johannesburg and the East Rand.
This role will require customer orientation, excellent interpersonal and computer skills, with the following key responsibilities:
Receive and process orders from customers chiefly at their premises
Provide product training to customers and their staff
Evaluate customer needs and build productive relationships
Meet personal and team targets
Research, identify and secure new customers / maintain and expand customer database within your assigned territory
Report and provide feedback to management
Present and sell company products and services to current and potential customers.
Ensure orders are correct and submitted to internal sales promptly
Check the product on customer shelves and stores for rotation and expiry dates.
Collect returns from customers, checking that credits will be allowed, notify the head office and return goods to the warehouse.
Prepare action plans and schedules to identify specific targets and to project the number of contacts to be made.
Follow up on new leads and referrals resulting from field activity.
Identify sales prospects and contact these and other accounts as assigned.
Develop and maintain sales materials and current product knowledge.
Establish and maintain current customer and potential customer relationships.
Identify and resolve customer concerns.
Prepare a variety of status reports, including activity, closings, follow-up, and adherence to goals.
Submission of expenses claims and other administration information required timeously and correctly.
Communicate new products and opportunities, special developments, competitors pricing and product information, or any other feedback gathered through field activity to regional sales manager.
Develop and implement special sales activities to reduce stock.
Participate in marketing events such as seminars, trade shows, and telemarketing events.
Follow-up for collection of payment.
Other duties as assigned.
Previous experience in sales
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to persuade and influence others. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public.
Work requires significant local travel to current and potential clients. This requires the possession of a valid driver’s licence.
Work requires a willingness to work a flexible schedule and overnight travel.
