The appointee should:

NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate or Grade 12 or Adult Senior Certificate)

Metalliferous Mining Blasting certificate.

First aid certificate.

Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical examination at the relevant Sibanye Stillwater Occupational Health Centre.

Advantageous requirements:

At least 3 years’ experience as a miner (inclusive of excellent safety and production results)
Shift Supervisor certificate of competence will be advantageous.

Key responsibilities include:

SHE
Conduct and coordinate safety meetings.
Conduct underground safety inspections and ensure that necessary actions are taken as per audit findings until resolved. Conducts planned task observations (PTOs) and Safe.
Behavioral Observations (SBOs) and Risk Assessments as per plan.
Conduct accidents and incidents investigations and implement necessary measures to avoid re-occurrence.
Ensure compliance to SHE standards, legislations, codes of practice and targets.
Communication and implementation of SHE related interventions and campaigns within the assigned section as per plan.
Liaise with relevant stakeholders regarding safety matters, including safety representatives, union representatives, team members etc.
Production
Monthly production plans to be reviewed and maintained.
Effective management of resources and logistics.
Material and resources to be available and allocated according to requirements.
Operational targets, goals and production results to be communicated to operational staff.
Achieve and improve production performance levels i.e.
Development meters, Centres and Sweepings.
Achieve production efficiencies.
Reporting on daily section performance.
Work studies to be conducted to identify bottle necks and opportunities for improvement .
People Management
Provide coaching and on-the-job training to reporting staff. Manage performance and development of crew members (applying consequence management — manage poor performance and recognition of good performance) Ensure fair work allocation for team members.
Inspire team members towards high performance (motivate and coach)
Maintain healthy and transparent relationships and rapport with thee stakeholders, including contract workers and unions.
Cost
Adhere to cost constraints and maintain cost expenditure.
Initiate cost saving measures as far as possible.
Reduce wastage.
Understanding bud et limitations.
Administration
Ordering of materials and equipment.
Ensure proper maintenance of equipment.
Document completion to standard.
Accurate and timeous completion of daily log sheets.
Accurate and timeous production reports. Compliance to all le al requirements.
