Transporting staff, clients and visitors to and from the DTTC head office to the satellite sites (Khayelitsha Ubunye Unit and Brooklyn Chest Hospital),

and around the communities where the project is run;

Helping to trace participants within a community and maintaining accurate records of all tracing attempts;
Transporting equipment and consumables between the DTTC head office and the study sites;
Delivering and collecting any other items for the project (e.g. lab samples);
Collecting and transporting clinical specimens as needed;
Performing other driving duties as requested by the study team;
Taking responsibility for the vehicle allocated to the incumbent, among other things, by maintaining the log book and by ensuring that the vehicle is
regularly serviced;
Performing all duties within the context of the mission, vision and values statement of Stellenbosch University.

Grade 12;

A valid driver’s licence and professional driving permit (PrDP);
Substantial experience and a clean record as driver;
Sound knowledge of Cape Town and environments;
The ability to work in a team;
A motivated disposition;
The ability to pay attention to detail;
A highly organised approach;
Good written and verbal communication skills in English;
The willingness and availability to work flexible hours.

Proficiency in at least one of the following languages in addition to English: isiXhosa and / or Afrikaans;
At least two years’ experience in a research environment and of driving duties, as well as daily observed treatment support (DOTS) training;
GCP training.
