Job Advert Summary

Rand Water is looking for a Welder, who will be responsible for the installation and repairs of pipelines and for the fitting of valves on pipelines.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 Trade Test (Welder) API 1104 Certification is advantage 4 years of relevant welding experience to the API 1104 code (i.e. welding of large diameter pipes) Experience in full penetration root welds/runs on small diameter pipes to the API 1104 code 4 years’ experience working on pipes, pipe specials and valve installation Experience and ability to use Oxygen and Acetylene cutting torch equipment Experience and ability to mark, cut and assemble bends from a drawing Knowledge of Occupational Safety, Health, and Environmental Act

Primary Duties

Install and lay of pipelines Installation of valves Installation of pipeline specials Maintenance of pipelines under shutdown conditions

Knowledge

Knowledge of the API 1104 code Knowledge of Occupational Safety, Health, and Environmental Act General knowledge of pipeline work Use of pipeline-related hand tool

Skills

Verbal and written communication skills. Problem-solving capabilities Read a construction layout drawing Oxygen and Acetylene cutting torch equipment Mark, cut and assemble bends from drawings
