Soccer Laduma, Africa’s number one soccer publication, is on the lookout for a committed, passionate, dynamic and avid football writer to contribute to its online editorial department.

You’ll be joining an expanding and highly successful team. This is an opportunity to not only work with but also to learn from the team at this leading Soccer publication who live off their football passion. You will also be surrounded by award-winning digital and social media editorial teams.

This position will be based in Cape Town.

Key responsibilities:

Produce well-written content every day.

Adhere to Soccer Laduma’s policies.

Work with the management and editorial team to develop and maintain an effective editorial team.

Responsible in helping to grow Soccer Laduma’s social media accounts.

Work closely with the manager/editor.

Conduct interviews.

Write original and researched stories and areas of interest.

Be willing to contact players, supporters, agents, coaches for exclusive content.

Be able to use social media.

Must be able to follow KPI structures and self-evaluation structures.

Contribute to weekly team-brainstorming sessions to collectively conceptualise and develop top quality content.

Requirements:
Tertiary education in English, journalism or communication ideal with a relevant diploma or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Writing experience.

Ability to write concisely.

Excellent written, grammar and communication skills.

Professional work ethic.

Independent worker.

Keen interest in learning and developing his/her writing and football knowledge.

Open to trying out new ideas.

Social media literate.

Dedicated and hard-working.

Must be able to work under pressure and deal with deadlines.

Must be able to fill out reports.

Attention to detail and project deadlines.

Must be seeking a career in media.

A passion for local and international football.
