MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Passed a recognized Trade test as an Electrician * Trade Test Certificate • 3 years’ operational and maintenance experience on
medium voltage electrical distribution and reticulation equipment • Valid code C1 drivers licence and PDP • Physically fit and health
Be Prepared to work overtime when needed • Effective communication skills in at least two of the three Western Cape official
languages * Must be a responsible and able to pay attention to detail * Wireman’s License (Category 2 : Installation Electrician) *
Qualifications in ORHVS Modules (1 – 10) * Certificate undertaking MV joining * Valid Authorisation from GMR 2.1 (HV & MV
authorization

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS OF POST:

Maintaining, constructing, installing and commissioning of the electrical network of Knysna, which includes 

11kV & 22 kV overhead lines and underground cables, switchgear, mini- substations, ring main units, transformers, 400V/230V distribution kiosks, and allied work 

11kV & 22kV cable joining using both compound and hear shrink joints
Maintaining street lightings and high mask lights * Installation of new domestic connections and pre-paid meter installations and conversions * Undertake the increase/decrease of tariff circuit breakers * Undertake inspections of electrical installation and report
on findings in respect of guidelines provided * Responsible for on-site OHS and supervision of labour * Perform overtime and standby duties on a roster basis
