Assisting with sample receipt, administration and tracking samples;
Performing DNA extraction from clinical samples as well as cultures;
Library preparation for next-generation sequencing;
Data management of next-generation sequences;
Working closely with a clinical trial team and communicating results clearly and concisely.

Master’s degree in a Life Science field (e.g. Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Virology);
Able to travel between Tygerberg Campus and MRC;
Experience in NGS library preparation and molecular techniques;
Good communication skills, collaborative and multidisciplinary interests;
Excellent verbal and written knowledge of English.

Experience in working with M. tuberculosis;
Trained to work in a BSL3 facility;
Proof of HPCSA registration as a medical technician.
